A wonderful testimonial for my Pilates for Cancer class. Thank you Nic 🙏🏼
Feel free to message me for details or if you have any questions.
“Each week I do the Pilates for cancer patients with Mary I feel a little stronger in mind & body. Even when feeling sluggish & slow, a gentle Pilates session seems to ‘fix’ everything.
Our little Monday family encourages each other & we laugh quite a lot!
It’s physical & mental therapy & very precious to me.
Mary knows all our issues & adjusts movements to suit each one of us.
She has classes for ALL abilities- it’s easy to find a level & ability to suit yourself.
If it’s the only exercise you do, I promise you your body will thank you!
Think strong, be strong 🏋️🤸🏽♂️” ... See MoreSee Less

THE PLANK FOR FITNESS FRIDAY
Primarily, an isometric core exercise, but regular and frequent ‘planking’ will also strengthen shoulder and back muscles, as well as work your chest, triceps, biceps and legs. Furthermore, planks will improve your general stamina. In fact, more than just about any other exercise, planks can work your whole body. They improve posture, get your ♥️ pumping and your blood flowing.
This body weight exercise is simple, requires no equipment, not even a mat, it doesn’t take long, and is amazingly effective.
How long can you hold a plank for? It might be a few seconds at first, but you’ll be surprised at how quickly you can improve, even just by holding a plank daily for 7 days. Holding a plank for 1 minute is a good goal to aim for. Consistency is key.
Here’s how to do a basic forearm plank, which is possibly the harder of the two versions.
✅ Start in a 4 point kneeling position with
✅ elbows below your shoulders and knees below your hips. ✅ Extend your legs behind you to bring your body to a lengthened position. ✅ Keep your navel squeezed in towards your spine, defying gravity, ✅ your pelvis tucked in, ✅ glutes activated and ✅ your back straight. ✅ Keep your head and neck aligned with your upper back ✅ don't look down towards your feet. ✅ Neck and spine should remain lengthened.
✅ Keep breathing or you might increase your blood pressure.
